Mangrove Reforestation

Mangrove reforestation was carried out at Mahabellana Yaya in an area of 5 acres of land. 6000 plants were grown in this area of the Bolgoda Lake region. Another location where mangrove cultivation was carried out was at Imbullistota yaya in an area of 6.5 acres of land. 7800 plants were grown here which also belong to the Bolgoda Lake region . 300 volunteers were involved in the process of planting. Planting of Cyperus corymbosus (Gal Ehe) as a secondary cultivation is used for weaving mats, bags etc.
